Default Audio Advice needed regarding the Alpine System

Well i'm sure this has been asked countless times, but I tried searching and didn't find the answers I was looking for.

I have the alpine stereo system in my crew cab laramie. I want a little more bass than the 8" sub can offer. But, I'd like to keep my stock head unit.

What would I need to accomplish this? I actually found my competition amp that I had connected to my Alpine Type-R that I used to have in my old passat... it was an awesome set up.

I'm open to doing a dual 10" sub set up under the seats, and I know I can find the box for that, but what kind of equipment would i need? I listen to mostly rock/metal and what not, but I listen to a little bit of rap and other things that have some good uses for bass.

Would I need a bass controller? What wiring would I need to make sure it was compatible to my stock head unit (ReR I think... dvd/nav and all that jazz)

Thanks in advance!

_Cameron

You could just do a line out converter. This would tap into the speaker wires already running to the sub that is there and the other end of the line out converter has RCA outputs which would run to your aftermarket amp. Just run a power cable with fuse from you battery to the amp and ground it.

JL audio probably makes the best subs never has a problem with them at all. You can find a box anywhere online and as for an amp I would go with a mono channel alpine maybe a MRP-m500. I listen to dance/rap/rock this would be a very good setup.

A high to low lever converter would work, although they can cause some noise or static. Your Type -R is a great sub, they are probably the best for the money. I don't like JL as once you get to a certain power level, they have always failed me. There are a lot of better subs out there for the money, it just depends on your setup, space, etc.

Just got professionally installed (2) 10" Kicker Competition Subwoofers, (1) Kicker 500 watt 4 channel amp and a box with MDF/Carpet for $280 plus tax. I have a 2009 Ram 1500. Sounds great and price was right. JL Audio has a much better product but price was out of my budget.
