Default Charging problems

My 2001 Ram with a 5.9 V8 discharges when idling. The Alternator is a stock Densoe unit. Truck has about 90,000 miles on it. Computer shows no codes, so I wonder if I should replace the alternator with a heavier unit. If so what would be a direct replacement?

if you lived where i do, we have auto electric shops, they rebuild your alternator, generator, or starter for a lot less then a replacement would cost
i used to rebuild my own, the housings, shafts & windings don't usually go bad, i usually sprayed the build up on the windings, & replaced the bearings & diodes, more often than not, i had a alternator as good as any shop could do for me

The problem is these Japanese alternators are so small I'd be afraid to try to rebuild it. Used to do it with the older Chryco alternators. That and I'm not as young as I used to be, no more patience
