Default Diablo Predator Custom Tune

i watched an installation video on YouTube for the Diablo Predator, my question is at the end the guy said if you send in your engine code or something they would make a "custom" tune for your truck.... so what is different from the custom tune they will send you vs the performance tunes that are already pre-loaded on the Diablo??

What is different will be what your truck data logs show as how the engine runs stock and with a canned tune. Normally, they will tweak up a custom tune to match how your engine runs. Most run pretty much the same within a set of parameters. What the custom tune does is narrow down that performance to gain maximum output, HP, torque and efficiency.

also, custom tunes will take into account what your mods are since none of us really mod exactly the same as the next guy.. "canned" tunes (the preloaded tunes on diablo for example) don't know how big your cold air intake or how much flow your exhaust has.. by datlogging, a tuner (a person, not the handheld device)..can manipulate numbers so that your motor runs at optimim..

it seemed as long as you had the Diablo Tuner that the custom tune came with it free, all you have to do is email them and they will email you back with the custom tune. then you just have to save it to your Predator and upload it to your truck.

no, you have to setup for datalogging, choose the pids (parameters) on the tuner, then drive around and start the datalogger ... depending on who is doing your tuning, the pids they want may be different from others.

Also, I don't know of anyone that tunes for free unless it came as a package deal. i think sean (hemifever) does them for $250 (unlimited tunes i think)

this is from my tuner:

Here's a Basetune and the PID list that I normally use for N/A vehicles.
When installing the tune or any revision I may send be sure to reset the adaptives(pull PCM fuse) and reset all parameters with the Predator.
Install the tune and let it learn for a couple of days then do a log.
When logging be sure to vary your driving style to fully populate the tables. Not all PID's are used by all vehicles

so you may not find them all but most will be there.

Also include any A/F #'s you have for WOT.

...the diablo does the datalogging...the key is, after datalogging you have to download the logs to a pc. if you start to datalog again, it will write over previous datalog... I prefer to have the diablo hooked up to truck, and have my laptop hooked up to diablo at the same time, that way i can keep saving logs in real time plus it's cool to watch all the pids record on screen of my laptop.

Like he said if you go with a custom tune at a dyno place he can take into consideration your mods you have on your truck and tweak everything to get the maximum power from everything. BTW Chefred watched ur track videos, ur truck is amazing!!!!
