I'd be surprised if they rub. I have the Bilstein levelers at max with a .25" spacer (slight rub only at full lock), but I also have 325/60-20's. The 305's should not rub and I would try them without spacers first just to be sure. And I did not add/change-out my studs as they had plenty of thread left with the spacers. I am changing my spacers to the next size up soon. Hope this works out for you, should look great!

The knobs on the Trail Grappler sidewall stick out just far enough that they rub on the contol arm. It will sound like you are driving on rumble strips. 1/4" spacers are necessary unless you want a groove carved into the sidewall.

Old topic and something we've beat pretty good into the ground.. but it sounds like somehow some guys are running street 305s (50/55) 20s with no rub, no spacer and no level/lift, but most tires, especialy Nittos or more aggressive tires will rub on stock trucks.

We propbably need a chart on what combinations have been known to fit. So What's the verdict, do 305/50/20 Zeon's rub on a stock 4th gen 2wd? How about Grabber UHP? Does 305/50 look too short? it does look nice and wide.

Also wanna say that I find it incredible that truck manufactures do not bother to consider popular tire sizes when designing wheels and wheel spacing in their trucks. That we can't fit 33x12.5x20 or 50 size tires on our stock trucks without spacers and lifts is just stupid IMHO. I know Ford and Chevy are the same, but I hear you can fit 325/60/18 on a stock Titans. It's a full size truck.. it would not have taken it much to designed around 35x13.5 knowing that guys obsses over tires on trucks like women an their shoes.

Designing a truck/suspension around a tire rather than designing the best suspension possible is a kin to putting the cart before the horse. Form still follows function, if only slightly these days. The trucks will drive the tire market, not the other way around. The only reason size 50 tires are available/popular is due to the popularity of lifts and 4x4 trucks in the first place.

I guess I don't see the problem with a 1/4" spacer if your heart's set on having the larger rubber. Why is that such a big deal?

To stir the pot a little.

I am running the Daystar leveling kit with 33/12.50R20 Toyo M/Ts. The have a very aggressive tread and sidewall lugs, no rubbing on the stock wheels with no spacers. Very aggresive tread with sidewall lugs.

On a different note. If I am going to use spacers, I use something like this.

http://www.spidertrax.com/Jeep-1-25-...category=10001

I have run them on and off road with tires up to 40", so I can couch for there strength.

Our wheels are hubcentric, most spacers are not.

I've read a number of posts about complications from spacers and adapters. I personally had an 80s chevy with a spacer that led to a tire falling off at highway speeds.

If they were considered safe I guess Tire kindom and Pepboys would not have explicit policies about handling them.

The wheel clearance on our trucks has changed over the years.. but tire sizes 33x12.5 and 305/55/20 and 35x12.5 have been around for over 20 years as standard size. IMHO, would it not make sense for the truck and stock rim manufacturer to stop and (AT LEAST) consider what other (TYPICAL) tire sizes we might be trying fit later on... I mean seriously, how many guys on here post a pics of their truck with new 275/60/20s on.. just saying. That we can't mount a 33x12.5x20 on a stock 1500 2wd is somewhat disappointing especially if you think that the same rim with a +12mm offset would allow for so many more options.
