have you pulled the plugs yet? first off for inspection, second to replace.

I haven't yet. I looked under there and it scared the crap out of me, lol. I was thinking of taking the coil from #2 and #1 and switching them and seeing if the code switched to #2. Then I could assume that it is bad coils. I've been researching coils, plugs, etc and can't come up with a package I want. So many choices. Thing is if I reset the code I don't get a check engine light until 30-50 miles afterward. I really want to fix it myself as I am dumping money into the wifes Escalade and the bank is getting thin.

Another question, can I just replace on spark plug (the number 1) or do I need to replace all of them? The code says cylinder 1 so I was thinking of just checking the plug and replacing the one.

oem champions have worked the best for me - $1.75 each. if it is the coil, those are $30 at checker. pull the plug for the cylinder giving you the issues and take a picture of the electrode. you can tell a lot of whats going on from the condition of the electrode.

knocking on wood as i write this - check your coolant level, leaking head gaskets have been known to throw a cylinder misfire code.
