Cool Gas Mileage Poll for 4.7L Quad Cabs 1500

I want to start a thread here where everyone posts what gas mileage you get and what you may have done to improve it.

12 to 13 in town up to 18 on open hwy. So far mine is all stock but I wish to do a few mods to see how much I can improve it. Mine is an automatic 2x4 with 3:73 gears.

I average 15 in town. Was getting 18 on the highway but now get over 20 with the addition of a tonneau cover. If I keep the cruise controll set on 64 I have seen 22 mpg.

I get a little over 13.5 mpg. city, and a little over 18mpg. hwy...done by hand. I've got an Airaid Modular Intake Tube, w/ a K&N drop-in/high flow air filter, Custom Hi-Flow Y-Pipe, & SI/DO Flowmaster Super 50 Series exhaust w/ mandrel bent 2-1/4" pipes straight out the back. Keep tires at 38psi., Straight alignment, & Mobil 1 synthetic oil w/ K&N oil filter. I'm looking at buying a tonneau cover soon, so we'll see if there are any gains to be had there!

Figuring 13 city and I can get 20 on the highway. She's all stock and I use the cruise control religiously on the highway. Interested to know what's going to happen when I lift her and get the 34's.

Thats not bad. I might have to invest in a tonneau cover. Do you calulate manually or is it the didgital reading in the truck? I have 3:73 gears and 2x4. If I can raise mine in town to 14 and 20 on the hwy that would be great.

Yours is close to mine 12-13c, up to 18H and mine is stock. I think a tonneau cover may be the way to go from what some others have posted here. This should create less wind drag. I run Castrol Full Synethic 5W30 in it right now.

How often do you guys change your tranny fluid and rear end gear oil? I wonder if there is a synethic that may help in those areas as well. I change mine rear end every 15k and the tranny every 30k. I had a problem with my rear end at 14k miles. Some plenary gear sensor that is plastic broke and the stealer ship fixed it since it was under warranty. They replaced all the guts in the rear end. I did have the locking rear end on it but I am not so sure that when they replaced all the guts that they did not hook it back up. I have been stuck 3 times since then and I think just one tire free spins.
