Default Mileage

When I first bought my truck and I was returning home I was stuck behind a slowpoke on this 2 lane hwy going 50-55. After resetting the mileage computer I watched it climb to 24 mpg! Boy, was I happy. Of course I never achieved that again. Computer now shows cumulative 15.6 mpg. Don't do much hi speed hwy driving.
20" tires, don't know rear end ratio.

How often do you guys change your tranny fluid and rear end gear oil? I wonder if there is a synethic that may help in those areas as well. I change mine rear end every 15k and the tranny every 30k. I had a problem with my rear end at 14k miles. Some plenary gear sensor that is plastic broke and the stealer ship fixed it since it was under warranty. They replaced all the guts in the rear end. I did have the locking rear end on it but I am not so sure that when they replaced all the guts that they did not hook it back up. I have been stuck 3 times since then and I think just one tire free spins.
It may be possible that the reassembled rear was done in an open rear rather than limited slip.

Go find a road/parking area/etc that has loose gravel/dirt. Stop truck, leave in drive, step on gas hard. If you are running a limited slip, you should see both tires making lines in road. If only one tire mark, I would go ask them what they did.

G'Luck

My 2 cents - I'm running stock 20's, 3.92 gears, soft tonneau, and single exit 3" magnaflow exhaust and the computer says I average 14-14.5 in the city and 17-18 on the highway. Hoping to add a CAI w/in the next few months, as well as new plugs, so we'll see if anything changes.
