Default Aftermarket GPS mounting and power

I have the center console, so my power is next to the shifter. For those of you that have the $150ish typical after market GPS, where did you mount your GPS (windshield, dash, etc.) and how did you run the power wire to try and hide the wire? I would love to see pics. I really am trying to find the best solution so the power wire is the least bit noticeable.

my gps is on the windshield next to the rear view mirror. you may have to extend the power wire but the easy way to hide the wire is to tuck it in where the head liner meets the windshield, down the pillar, then find a spot to get under the dash. I dont know the 2011 truck, but I have installed stereos ect. in many different vehicles, and they are all basically the same.

I have a garmin nuvi 1300. I have not wired it yet. The plan was to cut the power wire end off, but it has a built in voltage regulator to get it down to 5v. I would like to use the usb port in the glove box, but I need to find out what its maximum output is first.

I just ended up routing the power wire like I have in the past. I don't like the wire being exposed more than it has to. But I also didn't want the built-in GPS since I already had my little one. Looking back, I should have gotten the built-in GPS, lol....

I had considered getting the factory gps, but couldn't justify the cost. For about $200 I was able to buy a good gps that has lifetime traffic and map updates. The price of the garmin was less than 1 map update on the built in gps.

mine sits atop the silver trim running along the left side of the radio, cause i cant reach the windshield to set it. i dont hide the wire though as it's hardly ever mounted. i should say mostly it's mounted in the bottom of the center console.

That's actually exactly where I wanted to mount it. The suction cup held it on, but with very little pressure, I was able to slide it right off of the silver trim. I thought about the stick on disk, but really don't want to apply "stickers" to the new ride.

BDM218, spend a bit more on the GPS, get the 1390 LMT from BEST BUY, try to catch it ON SALE!!! when they are onsale, they are $199
GARMIN nüvi® 1390LMT
$230

the best thing about this unit is the
nüvi 1390LMT packs big features — including FREE Lifetime Maps and Traffic — into a slim design. This thin navigator also comes with lane assist with junction view, pedestrian navigation options, hands-free calling and ecoRoute™ to calculate a more fuel-efficient route.

i bought the 1350T & i don't believe that it has the Lifetime Maps, that means that i will have to pay for updates

I bought it so that i would NOT have to pay for the $199 up dates with my RER in my RAM

I have a TomTom 340m XL I purchased this past summer. I get lifetime maps, traffic (in very fine print, you have to pay for it, I do not...), lane assist and so on. It's actually a great little GPS, I just wish I could mount it in a better location so as to not have the wire sticking out like it does. I almost went with Garmin when I bought this GPS. All of my GPS's have been Tom-Tom and I was already familiar with the menus, lol, so I passed on the Garmin.
