Default Check Engine Light

So i've been babying and fixing this dodge for quiet some time now...my check engine light has come on about 4 times since purchasing it...everytime it says bad t-stat...first time it was actually broken but the following 3 times nothing appears to be wrong with the t-stat...just yesterday the light came on...i'm assuming its t-stat again...what would be throwing this code all the time if the t-stat is good? Just gettin sick of changing the t-stat and flushin all the coolant...

What about the coolant temp sensor? Check it and the connection to it.

Alfonso...

It's to the left of your thermostat housing...there's your t-stat housing...an inlet from your heater core...then left of that is a little sensor threaded into the intake...careful with it...I just replaced my plenum gasket and ended up breaking two of those sensors...they seem to be a little weak where the plastic meets the brass...hope this helps!

Good luck!

Kyle

if it was the t-stat your truck would have symptoms of being too cold all the time or on the erge of overheating or just overheating, if it was the temp sensor then it wouldnt read the coolant temp. does your coolant temp guage work?

This isn't necessarily true. A sensor can be bad and the gauge can still work but be inaccurate.
