Default MDS question

How do I turn the MDS off? What does this affect? I read that with a leveling kit and bigger tires, the truck would run smoother with it turned off. Is this true? Thanks.

You can turn off the MDS buy activating the tow/ahul option of by shifting from drive into the 5 range. If you want to permanently disable it, you'll need a tuner.

Why would you want less mpg ? These are smooth running trucks! A friend put larger tires on his truck then when back too smaller and now it rides better with the smaller tires! Don't mess up a good thing !!!!

the mpg is no effected that much when you turn off the msd. really the only time i have the msd on is when i'm on the interstate. which then, the msd helps alot on mpg, 19.4-21.3.

i have 3.55 gears. that makes a little difference vs 3.92s

Mds doesn't help much in the city but does a lot on the highway, well technically the fact that you're in 5 and not in whatever gear the computer puts you in. Cause highway at 80 with 4.10 I'm at about 3000 rpm but when I take it out of 5 it drops to less than 2500. But mds kicks in so it sounds horrible with my dumped exhaust

Yes. Shifting into 5 and tow/haul do the same thing

Somewhere around here there is a post that says Chrysler engineers recommend shifting to 5 instead of using tow/haul to disable MDS. I don't know the reason behind it, I just remember reading that was the engineer's opinion.

Tow/haul won't let you go in overdrive. Putting it in 5 will.
Tow/haul keep the gear longer, wich take more gas. Putting it in 5 change gear like it normally would.

So i guess it's better for fuel economy to put it in 5.
