Default Please Help!(pic enclosed)looks like I'm missing something on back of motor

Hello, upon pulling my tranny out. I noticed that it looks like something is missing on the back of my motor. (immediately to the right of the oil sending unit. In the picture) The hole is approximately 1"-2" and it's threaded inside. Does anyone have any idea as to what it might be? I've searched all over for an exploded view of the engine, but I can't find any pics of the back of the motor. I even went through my whole shop manual. My truck is a 1996 1500 5.9 litre 4x4.

So it's just a plug? Is there supposed to be any wires or hoses or vaccum lines attached to it?

That is great to hear! Do you have any suggestions of what I should plug it with? Or is that a common part to get from the parts store or dealer?

I swear dealing with dealership parts guys is friggin' ridiculous!!! Anyways, does anybody have an idea as to where I can find the plug? Or what the proper name is?

If you can find out what the thread size is, you should be able to use any standard plastic fitting to plug it. If it is a tapered hole than it is most likely a pipe thread. If you can measure the hole with dial calipers or something fairly acurate than i can tell you what the thread size most likely is.
