Default MDS question or ....

i dont understand it.

to get the mds to work halfway decent, i have to keep pressure on the pedel. But that makes me increase speed. so, i back off. but that make me decrease speed. how do i keep a consistant speed?

or is there a problem. i read somewhere on here that the dealer can reset it.

does anybody think that will work? (if there is a problem)

Its very hard to get the ECO light to stay on even in CC. Problem is if th road is slighly uphill it goes off if you go down hill it comes on if its flat it comes on but very hard to keep it on.

Just find the right amount of pressure. It took me atleast a week or so to get used to it

I live in a pretty hilly town and my ride from work to home is all down hill. I am pretty sure that the ECO light is on during the downhill coast, but will check tonight on my coast home.

I've noticed that the MDS does not work until the engine is warm and until you get over a certain speed ... like over 15mph.

i believe part of the problem here is most of us are not used to the acronyms MDS & ECO

MDS means Multi Displacement System
meaning the vehicle will either use all 8 cylinders or drop down to only using 4 cylinders, it may stay in 4 cylinder mode even if a grade is very slightly up hill, works best while using cruise control

ECO or Fuel Saver mode
means that you are driving as efficiently as is possible to save fuel

ECO or Fuel Saver lights up usually when you are in 4 cylinder mode, fairly level surface or going down hill. It can turn on as slow as 18 to 20 MPH & you can have it on between speeds up to around 70 mph, after that it may or may not stay on a bit longer & if you let off of the throttle it can stay on all the way to a STOP

The things that turn the light off are usually using all 8 cylinders, any up hill grade, any increased throttle pressure, no matter how slight on level ground, although it may come back on when you reach & hold that new speed
it is pretty fickle, but, it is just letting you know that you are getting the best mileage possible under certain conditions

i think this is my best way of explaining it, other drivers of vehicles may have experienced it a bit differently

Question----- When in cruise control at 70-75 mph, is it better to have the MDS off or on?
