I'm somewhat glad to see im not the only one having this problem. Luckily I have a family friend that does body work/paint for a living and we managed to work out a trade for him to fix my problem shortly. Mine bubbled abit then summer came last year and after I washed my truck one day water must have got into a bubble some how and the heat im guessing made it expand big time... I've been looking at buying inside wheel well plastics, has anyone else ended up doing that also?

If I where you guys I would swing by Home depot and buy some Black plasti dip. They sell it at walmart also. I have done some research and have read that spray paint will still allow it to rust as the paint breaths. Google search what plasti dip does and how cool it is. It is like rubber in a can but goes on just like spray paint. I have already plasti dipped a few parts on my truck that showed signs of rusting. I hope it prevents it.

The dealer replaced the side panels of my 2005 but that was back in 2010. I got lucky I caught it when I did. Out of pocket expense $0.00

Mine is a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab with same wheel well rusting issues. The paint has started to lift and could be removed easily. This I have not done yet. This I have not done yet. The rest of the truck looks like new. Seems all of the postings about repairing the quarter panels is an expensive job. Anything, yet, about Dodge/Chrysler offering help on repair job?

My 04 currently has the same issues with the wheel well rusting. The best way to fix it is to get new bed rails. Have an uncle who owns a body shop and he said he has cut the rust out, but it just comes back after a month or so. Its due to foam in the bed rails that trap moisture. I plan just to wait it out until spring and then try to find a used bed or bed rails.

I did my 06 Hemi Sport. POR 15 on the inner fender. Sandblast & filled small pin holes with lead. Acid wash then prime & paint!
1 year & still like new. Did the work myself & still cost me 600$.
Better than 3000$

My 06 hado paint bubbles. I ground them off to see what was going on. Pin holes..

Ended up stripping off the paint about 4'' up, all the pin holes punched in slightly, and the voids filled with liquid metal. Acid etched, than covered it with silver POR-15. The silver has a metal filler in it. I've found its more durable.

Top coated with blue paint, than covered with Power Wagon flares.

I highly recommend these for any third gen but particularly any third gen that spends its time in frequently wet, salty environments. These are actually OEM. I assume you had to check a box to get them on a new truck. From what I have read they help tremendously in preventing this issue.
