Default Check Engine Light

Add the check engine light to the other 2 (Airbag and Seatbelt) that are lit up on my console. I cleaned, oiled and replaced the air filter. Drove it about 30 miles and the check engine light illuminated. Maybe I sprayed too much of the recharger on the air filter? I used the K&N recharge kit yesterday, cleaned it out, dried it, then applied the oil. Put it back in and no problems till about 30 miles then the light came on. Looks like a trip to the parts store for a code reading to me.

I suppose it's possible but you'd really have to lay the oil to it to cause a problem.

I think I may need to inquire about purchasing a code reader. It may save some $$ and time in the future.

No, its too late to get one. I may have over oiled it and some got on the sensor. Gotta get a code tomorrow, might buy a reader, and figure it all out. Shouldnt be too hard to fix and reset.

Ok, I did the ON, ACC, ON, ACC, ON, ACC trick and got P0301. Google says its cylinder 1 misfire. Do I just disconnect the battery and let it reset? I think I might need to put better than 87 in the tank as it hesitates at the beginning of 2nd gear. Still need fixes for the Air Bag and Seat Belt light.

a little off topic, if you are planning on getting a code reader - spend the few extra dollars and get a superchips flashpaq, it has a code scanner in it.

just pull your number 1 coil pack off and look at the ground connection to the motor see if it's rusted up, then take the plug out and look at it check it for gap clearance, if it was a injector it would throw up a different code saying injector failure

this is where i go to check codes if i cant get it read that day

Maintenance Day- Got up under the hood and noticed the sensor was partially out from the left side of the intake tube. Took the tube off and cleaned it all up, reinserted the sensor, disconnected the battery and reconnected. Viola, no more check engine light. Changed to Mobil 1 5W30 also, I like how it feels. Now to figure out the Airbag and Seatbelt lights.
