Default I have a problem and need expert answers

i have a 2005 dodge ram 2500 4x4 5.9l deisel. it has sat up on a car lot for about 3 months waiting to be sold. it only ran every so often while there. now when i put it in reverse or drive, it acts as if i have my foot on the accelorator and brake at the same time, like it has a governor problem or something. like it is under strain. when i take my foot of the brake it acts normal and goes down the road and shifts fine. when coming to a stop it gears down and when completely stopped it governs up and strains against the brake again just enough to tell something is not right. can someone please shed some light on this for me. i am stressed right now thinking something is wrong with the transmission. thanks in advance.

Doesn't sound like a trans issue.....but then again, I'm not a certified mechanic.
Have you taken it for a good run on the highway to fully warm it up? Any vehicle that sits for a lengthy period needs to be run under normal load/driving conditions until it's fully warmed up, and it sure doesn't hurt to replace the basic fluids even though they don't have the miles on them. Oils break down rather quickly when sitting with the contaminants in them. Engine and trans especially.

its about 25 miles from the dealership where it was to my house. i didnt drive it home, my fathernlaw did and he said it acted fine. its almost like the idle is set too high while the brake is pressed and put in reverse or drive and as soon as you let off the brake to go it goes to normal.
