This thread is about a hidden electrical switch bank i've been wanting to create since i've bought the truck. When I test drove the truck it had the factory coin holder inside the console, (which i found out was not included and tried to get it after the sale. $80 for a coin holder later I was kicked off the lot for passing out flyers about their service.) It gave me the idea to open it up and install tiny push button switches under the springs. So if the coin slot is all but one full I would just press down on that coin slightly to activate the switch. Or if using a momentary switch i'd just fill in the last coin to make contact. I was thinking this would come in handy for 2 reasons: First it will leave me a clean dash or console free of cluttered mismatched aftermarket switches. Second, sometimes you I dont want people that may have temporary access to your ride to use all of its toys. Examples being able to hide an amp turn on switch so a mechanic cant crank your tunes and damage equipment. A hidden switch controlling exhaust cut-outs or to run a relay for a cheap starter kill immobilizer. Basically anything can be hidden lights, horns, flashers or anything you wouldnt want others to use or know about.

I've been waiting to do this mod until I can afford the toys that i'd want to control. But since the weather will be getting better soon I might do this fairly cheap mod before i get the toys so its done and waiting. I've done a similar mod hiding a switch under the upholstery of a seat cushion in another ride so i'm confident i can pull this off cleanly. When I do Im planning on plenty of pictures and a how-to write up because I think it'll be a fun one.

Another idea is to wire up an indicator light to tell me when my MDS is activated but i'd like to integrate it into the factory instrument cluster, hopefully I can find an unused bulb socket to mount an LED into.

If anyone has done anything similar involving integrating LED's with factory lights, hidden switches or just switch banks in general and would like to share suggestions or ideas please do!

I like the hidden switch idea, I just don't know about lifting up the console everytime to use the switch, but I guess that's the point though. I'd say bringing a master power/ground wire to the switch area, then a small distribution block, latching/momentary switch, and you should be laughing.
