Default 17" to 20" what's up?

So yesterday I traded my 17" rims and tires with a guys for 20" rims and tires. We swapped them in the yard with no issues. I went for a drive today and noticed a few issues:
1. rides rough ( tire pressure- fronts 45 and rear 42) would it ride smoother with a little less pressure?
2. steering very touchy and steering wheel out of alignment (probably just an alignment) not sure how just changing tires would do that. As for the touchy ???
3.finally when going over bumps notice that the truck seems to shift over, like swaying.( maybe a balance)
These are my guesses, am I right?

I keep 35 psi in all my tires. Did you swap the TPMS sensors or get them calibrated to your truck?

Are the tirs the same diameter? I know that the stock 17s come with 29.5" and the 20s come with 32" tires. This could be affecting your speedo as well as you're feeling more body roll from the higher center of gravity compared to the 17s you had previously. I got nothing about the steering, but I'd get the tires balances just to be sure.

Not sure about the pressure...I just had new tires put on at the dealer and they put 40psi all around and it seems to work fine.

Some of what you are feeling is just the difference between the 17s and the 20s. The 20 is actually a 33" tire with stock size tires and I'm guessing it has a smaller (and stiffer) sidewall. That will cause it to ride a little rougher and you to feel more of the road. Also, I'm guessing the 20s are a little wider tire? Which would also cause you to notice grooves and elevation changes in the road.

I would definitely get them balanced first and see what that fixes. That's easy and cheap. If still not satisfied, or course, you can have it aligned. What else can you really do? What kind of tires are on the 20s? How much life left in them? You wouldn't believe what a difference you can feel between a set of crappy, cheap tires and a decent name brand tire.

Are the tires worn at all? If you put tires that are worn uneven on your truck it could change your alignment.

The tire I have now on the rear are Goodyear ltx MS2 275/60/20 and they are virtually brand new. As for the front are Goodyear Latitude, About mid life and the same size. Old tires were Goodyear Wrangler SRA 265/70/17 and they were worn and possibly uneven.

If you got the front tires from a truck that the alignment was off, then they were probably worn uneven. It may make your alignment feel like its off, even if its not. It's possible that once you put some miles on the tires it could correct itself. It could also through your alignment out. I would put the new tires on the front and see if it corrects the alignment issue.

Well went to get the TPMS put back in and when the guys took the tires off they told me that the two front tires had thrown belts and needed to be replaced. So I put on some new Coopers on the front and lowered the tire pressure and got all the tires balanced. Now the truck rides quite a bit nicer, not as good as before but much more tolerable.
Thanks for the information guys, much appreciated.
