Default spot, convex mirrors on outside mirrors

The used 2010 Laramie Quad Cab I bought has the heated, auto dimming outside rear view mirrors.

In the upper, inboard corners of the mirrors there are small convex mirrors----and they bug me.

Are these factory installed or after market?

Can I apply heat to loosen the adhesive and remove them? The driver's side "spot mirror" is in exactly the wrong place for me.

Mine doesn't have them, so they must be add ons. Are you sure on the auto-dimming feature? I'd have to look at the book, but I don't think mine has that either.

They're most likely add ons. I don't see why you'd be unable to remove 'em. I do predict that it'll be a PITA though.

I added a set to my truck, and I find that they work well, though personal preference of placement can be a factor.

I'd try a heat gun, a lil fishing line, and a lot of patience. You may then need to hit the mirror with some goo gone or something similar to get rid of what's left of the adhesive. You can then decide if you want to put a new convex mirror on in the place of your choosing.

good luck

Exco

I haven't tested the driver's side mirror but the build sheet does specify that it's auto dimming.

good luck. Exco
I de-badged my Tacoma using the methods you've described and it worked well. I'll give it a shot.

I won't replace them. I find them distracting and I actually get better coverage with the factory mirror. I guess, after 48 years of driving, that I've become set in my ways. Never thought that would happen!
