Default Lack of Power

Today i put in a new Spectre intake and i was able to look down the throttle body and i didnt really see any pooling oil (plenum gasket fix) but my stock box and oil filter where really oily...i could tip the accordian tube and it would drip out...any thoughts? I also am a little bit confused cause after i took it out for a spin to see the GAINS lol i felt under powered, as i have since i bought it, but i couldnt even spin the tires with WOT from a dead stop...seems to me that a 5.9 L engine should be able to do that...any thoughts on my potential dilema?

Spectre Intake
Jet Chip/ Programmer (a waste i know)

Wow. I was about to talk about this very thing. I was looking into doing a DIY intake with the Spectre cone. My truck's also seeming abit sluggish compaired to other trucks. I have a buddy with a 92 Chevy 1500. We lined em up and he was miles (figuratively) ahead of me. He does have a dual 3 inch exhaust on it and it's a manual, but i would think it would at least keep up but he left me in the dust.

I'm interested to see what others say on this.

wow if you cant spin tires with ur 5.9 thats a problem i just put a 95 5.9 engine in my brothers 98 and that thing spins over his 20" rims no problem. the oil might be from a bad pcv valve check and see if its still free. and maybe some regular maintenance or tune-up? also if that TB is dirty clean the hell out of it. that allllways helps.

Yah i was quite surprised to with the performance of the truck, especially coming from a 2wd Chevy with intake, exhaust and chip....i know they're totally different comparing 4x4 and 4x2 but still i feel like an old grandma in this dodge...i had a huge maintenance done in Aug and i've been changing oil and checkin it frequently but still i feel like its at about 1/2 its potential or maybe the HP just isnt enough to move the rig???

How would i know if the PVC valve is bad? Is it an easy change?

Im planning on cleaning the throttle body and choppin off the silencers on the throttle body for a lil more umph but idk if that will change it that much...

Remember, an engine is nothing more than a gas powered air pump. To make power, you need to move more air in and out of the cylinders. Headers and a good exhaust are great bang for the buck mods. I would expect at least a 20 HP gain.

pull the pcv valve out of the passenger side valve cover and shake it it should sound like a little ball ratelling around in their. if not its stuck or bad.

the hose should be running into the side of the intake but yea it should spin inside of the rubber in the valve cover

I can smoke my tires if the pavement is pretty bare. Especially if i hit a puddle or somethin. Get those things wet and i can go completely through an intersection without a problem. I'll definitly be buying some new tires this fall.

My biggest problem is just full throttle acceleration. I know these things aren't torque monsters, but my 02 Yukon XL with the 5.3 Vortec can out run it all day long.

My brothers QC 5.2 Dakota out ran the Yukon once. But he wasn't towing a boat and holding 6 people. It was just him and his wife. hahaha.
