Default Flashing CEL and shifting problems

1997 dodge ram 1500 5.2 having major problems vehicle originally ran fine started having shifting problems while towing a trailer that weighed around 6000 pounds. Truck accelerates extremely slow slower than ever gets to about 2250 rpm in first gear and will not shift unless i let off gas completely vehicle would not go over 35 miles per hour no matter what the harder you push the gas the slower it goes feels like its shifting into 2 gears at the same time scanned CEL with cheap scanner got misfire codes on all cylinders replaced all plugs, wires, cap and rotor engine runs a little rough i know plug wires are on correct plugs changed them one at a time to avoid confusion tried driving today and it would not go over about 25 MPH then slowly would not maintain speed at all until it had absolutely no power it would lurch forward then stop then lurch forward and stop again repeating same thing over and over and even in park engine would not rev up over 1500 rpm any help is greatly appreciated sorry about the massive run-on sentence lol.
Thanks, Alex

the accelleration problem is probably a clogged catalyc converter, and that whining noise in reverse is common on the rams with the 46re idk about the other ones, my truck whines a bit in reverse, and my brothers truck. im not sure about the groaning noise. the oil pressure drop might be due to a clogged oil pickup screen, get that oil pan off as soon as u can and check and see.

Lemme know whatchya find

I've seen several cars with clogged catalytic converters and some of your symptoms are what was experienced with them. RedBull has some good points here.

Thank you for the reply!! is there any way to tell if its a plugged converter besides just unbolting the cat from the exhaust manifolds and trying it?? i know it'll be hella loud im not really too concerned about that will it act all funny without the o2 sensor getting any exhaust to it? ill try to get the oil pan off soon to check that problem and as soon as i know if it is the cat ill order a new one just need to know how to test for this.
Thank you, Alex

You either have to unhook the converter or get a backpressure gauge.

sometimes it works but at night when its reallly dark out let the truck run and get to operating temp and get under and look at the cat and if its glowing red in any way then its bad but a good way to unclog em to know if its the problem is to get under there with a BFH aka a BIG hammer and beat the crap out of it and drive it a little and see if that helps

I recently bought a 1998 Dodge ram 1500 slt 4x4 5.2l v-8 magnum automatic about a month ago the truck was running fine then all of a sudden last week I was driving it and the oil went from normal to not having any and my oil light came on so I pulled over and checked the oil and it was fine then after that about two min. later my check engine light came on and my truck started to sound really weird . It would shift into first np then when it had to shift into sec. and third I had to bring my rpm's way up or take my foot off the gas all together plz. help if anyone knows wat might be wrong with it

the oil problem could be a clogged pickup screen, and the shifting could be a clogged catalyc converter
