Default Wheel bearing failure?

The other day we had our wheel on our 97 Dodge 1500 come off the truck at 70 mph on the express way. No one hurt but, we had had the wheel bearing replaced about 10,000 miles ago. The shop that replaced it had given a lifetime warranty. He now claims that the disc brake inner pad only had rubbed on the rotor and caused the sealed bearing to over heat and fail thus he is not responsible for repairing it. I don't know how you could tell if the brake failed or the bearing failed 1st causing the brake to fail. Yes the router, caliper, wheel bearing, axial, brake line, and brake pads all were destroyed. Does anyone know where I might turn to learn how to tell and or the most likely cause?

the only way I can see overheating being an issue is if the caliper was stuck, the hose collapsed internally, or a caliper guide seizing up causing the brake to stick. Got any pics of the damaged parts?

No pics sorry,The pad that was on the inside of caliper was very burnt, Rotor showed signs of heat but I'm not sure if that didn't occur as the bearing failed and before wheel was ejected off the truck. outer pad showed normal wear. There was no noise from it and no pulling either until wheel came off.

I still can't imagine how the bearing seperated if the axle nut was properly installed. Was the nut still in place on the axle shaft?
