Default anti gel? lift pump?

Hey guys my first diesel (2000 5.9) so I'm pretty much clueless my questions are these
1- at what temperatures do you have to start adding anti gel ?
2- It appears that the lift pump is a week link how many miles can you expect to get out of one? does it go bad all at once? what are some symptoms? are remans ok?
Thanks for any info you may provide

The temperature actually depends on the blend of fuel and it's additives. Some fuels cloud point (Fuel starts appearing cloudy which is the formation of wax) can be as high as 20-40*F. It's hard to say what the cloud point of the fuel you use is but your stations usually start switching to a winter blend within the next few weeks. We have a 300 gallon fuel tank that has had "summer" blend thats hit -7*f with out starting to cloud.
Don't really know much about lift pumps though

Id add ant gell even with winter blend for temp below 25° and lower. As for pump it will start to Loose power be hard to start, surge under power. Trust me it sucks when your driveing a 24,000 lb. straght truck and your lift pump goes out. And yes its a 5.9 cummings.

Another tip I dont know about the dodge but our co. truck's go thru fuel lines frequently. But I still sware by them especially in a pick up. They can pull more then the truck is built to do! Trust me I pull 8 to 10,000 daily.
