Default Lowering with parts from a 2WD

2001 Ram 1500 4WD. Want it lowered some. I know 2WD's sit lower, don't they? Can I just swap out with 2WD springs & shocks?

If not, any ideas? They have lowing kits for '02 and up, but not earlier

Hi, I don't have a good answer for you, but someone will.

While waiting around, how about using the link in my SIG to jump over to the Newbie Checkin and introducing yourself and throw up some photos of the truck?

You cannot use 2wd parts to lower the 4wd. Unfortunately the front end suspension setup is completely different. The 4wd has a solid front axle with yolks and spindles, and the 2wd has independent suspension with control arms.

IF both trucks had Full Independent front suspension like the 3rd gens then it could (possibly) be done.

try smaller tires. a size or 2 could make a difference, and be what your looking for. DO NOT CUT YOUR SPRINGS OR GET SMALLER SHOCKS! im unsure of any companies that make lowering kits for 4x4 trucks. good luck!
