Default Transmission Problems

Not sure what is going on with my truck, but the dealership I went to is clueless, and I have scheduled another appointment for next Wednesday elsewhere. In the mean time, I want to see if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

For starters, the truck is bone stock other than a few cosmetic upgrades.

When driving at 40-45mph and you punch it the transmission either cannot decide what gear to go into and rapidly changes back and forth, or the torque converter is rapidly locking and unlocking. It will do it in Drive, tow/haul or 5th so I have ruled out MSD problems. I brought it to the dealership this morning and their solution was to change the oil and do a fuel treatment and charge me $100. I had just changed the oil 2 weeks ago with mobil 1 5w20 and I told them this. I am pissed about this and have already filed a stop payment charges on my CC. They claim the oil was causing the msd to act up and it was now fixed. How they knew it was fixed is beyond me as the truck only had 0.2 more miles on it than when I handed over the keys after I drove the service tech around.

It wasn't so I immediately returned. I was basically told they don't have a solution and just drive it until something fails.

Call Chrysler customer service and tell them your story. I'm betting they'll light a fire under someones ass.

Will do. The visit to the dealership I bought it from on Wednesday should go better. Hopefully they will actually try and fix it. I was warned about the dealership I went to today, but they are very close to where I work, and it was just more convenient for me. Lesson learned, they really do have bad business practices.

I find that if you bring your truck/car to a dealer that you didn't buy it from you get treated like a second class citizen. I wouldn't pay them either..any repairs at this point should be under warranty.

I noticed my truck doing the exact same thing today. I'm definitely interested to see what the second dealership says the problem is.

The dealership I bought it from is looking into the problem further. We could duplicate it at will during the test drive so they gave me a loaner car until they get it sorted out.

I will also be getting all the door seals replaced to try and reduce all the wind noise in the cab.

There was also a RRT on the truck. I believe it was RRT 11-020. Not sure what it was. The service tech said he had never done that one and would have to look it up.

Picked up the truck last night.

The RRT was to check for a water leak in the cab. They replaced the drivers door seal and the wind noise is gone.

As for the transmission issue, the best they could do was reset/reflash the computer. It drives much better now, but the shudder is still present. I was basically told the shudder has to be considered normal operation until Chrysler tells them otherwise.

Glad to hear you got your truck back and that it seems to be running better. Hopefully they got the problem fixed for good.

I feel your pain man. As for the shudder..... I have had that in mine since day 1. I have been back to the dealership twice now and they know there is an issue with the tranny shifting into overdrive too soon and Chrystler is working on a program to re-flash the computer to fix this issue.. I call and bug them at least once a week regarding this. They tell me is doesnt hurt anything but damn its annoying somedays...
