Default power door locks

hi,
i have a 1985 d150 pick up. the locks say electric lock on the top of the pull knob. the passenger door can be locked and unlocked by hand, the driver door cannot be locked at all. the passenger door lock doesn't seem to be working "electrically" I am wondering the components involved and what may need replacing. I am seeing a relay available at the auto part stores.

When you say you cant lock it at all, you mean even pushing down on the pull knob? if so, it sounds like your door lock motor is seized up. you should be able to just remove the door panel and reach in and disconnect the rod that links the motor to the lock and be able to lock your door, it will just be manually. and if you happen to find somewhere to replace the lock motor for cheap, let me know. I was told it was a dealer item and they want like 140 for it here.

Same problem here. Jmorton is correct... My passenger door will lock manually but it has the rod disconnected as J stated. The driver door will not lock at all and the rod is still connected (But, it won't be as soon as it gets day light) Hope this helps ya! I can live without power door locks.

I have the same problem on my pap's 1990 150. I believe the motor is good put the linkage is frozen. it twitches when you hit the switch but you can lock it by hand.
