If you want longevity, sure, they're worth it. I prefer to change mine every 30K so I have a chance to read the plugs and see what's happening inside the cylinders.

So i put in the champions that RamTech suggested....seemed to fix the check engine light...when i started it up it idled pretty good...when i reved it a few times and ran it up to 4000 or 5000 it kinda did some weird like sputtering at the higher RPMS...any thoughts? Typical?

My Neon and Ram both call for Champions, I would not touch them even with a 10ft poll. I run NGK's Iridiums in my Neon and NGK V-Power in my Ram. I am very please with NGK. The Echo equipment I have all call for NGK's. Well worth the money.

I have run NGK's in all my quads and my Raptor ended up blowing a headgasket and turned the plug to crap. After changing the head gasket I cleaned the plug with a wire wheel and put it in and it still worked great. I can't say the same for Champions.
My truck came with champions in it and only had 3,000 miles on them and so far no problems. But if I were to buy new ones I'd probably buy NGK's.

some vehicles just run better on different spark plugs
my Harley shovel head runs best on Autolites, my buddies Harley runs best on NGK. We both use different carburetor brands

_______________________________________
spark plug company history & facts

Motorcraft & Autolite are made by Honeywell, the company also makes FRAM

NGK makes it own products

AC DELCO is a division of General Motors

Champion was made Albert Champion, sold to Cooper Industries in 1989, now owned by Federal-Mogul Corporation, the same company owns Moog, ANCO, FEL-PRO, WAGNER Brakes, Wagner Lighting
Champion also builds spark plugs to SPEC for several companies
For many years Harley-Davidson Spark plugs have been manufactured by 'Champion Spark Plugs'. H-D has a contract through Champion for the optimum heat range for H-D street motors, this heat range is only available on H-D plugs and is not sold in stores

Hot & Cold HEAT RANGES are explained quite well here
http://www.harleyhelp.com/sparkplg.html

BOSCH makes their own plugs
Bosch has also purchased 50% of Purolator Filters as a joint venture with Mann+Hummel.

My best friend and my father-in-law both swear by BOSCH Platinums. The good thing is they come pre-gapped for your application. I plan to get them for my next plug change.
