Volant makes a great CAI. AirRaid is also pretty darned good.

Volant, AirRaid, Afe, K&N, basically any name-brand are good. Just make sure they the one you buy has a heat shield, or it's not really a "cold" air intake.

I have a k&n adds some noticable power ...but the most noticable is the engine sound which happens to be about 10 times louder then stock.

not in my opinion. For starters, the Volant comes with a much better, DRY filter. It's worth the little bit extra IMHO.

Well i went with the K@N, WOW the sound is differant. I think the performance is better as well, it really takes off when you step on it. Not sure how much the differance would make on a stock truck sense i already had Thorely long headers installed. Maybe a little backwards but at least its done now. Im glad i did it though, and everyone else on the forum is right, the mpgs dont go up very high cause the "heavy foot disease"

This may be a dumb question but can a CAI be used year round? I thought I read somewhere you cant when its cold and there is snow etc.

My 2011 Laramie came with a Mopar CAI. I bought it in December, so I'd say it works in the winter.

The stock 09 engine has a pretty good factory CAI. And its quieter.
