Default Opinions needed Please

Ok here is the deal, I bought my truck with what I thought was a bad head gasket. Come to find the engine was hurt. It had over heated and dropped two valve seats and broke two pistons. Ok fast foward new .30 over pistons , fresh rebuild and heads reworked. It don't seem to have much power , but it runs ok. It has about 450 miles on it. last night I had it develop a pretty loud tick. I think it could be lifters but it really seems wierd. It tapps like crazy for a while , starts missing on a cylinder and the tap goes away. It will pick the cylinder back up and not tick for a while then it will start ticking again.. It don't have a knock but a pretty loud tick when it is at it's worse. Anybody have problems with lifters ?? I am at a loss on this one..

Thanks guy's , The oil pressure is fine.
I ran it for a few days since the ticking and no other noises..
I changed the oil the other day and nothing bad in there.. I put synthetic oil back in and now have well over 600 miles on it with no more noise.. Hopefully it was just a lifter... Thanks for the replys...

Ok it's been a while and the tapping noise comes and goes.. If you stand on it and bring the rpms over 4000 it will start tapping and sound like crap.. It will get so bad it will loose a cylinder , miss terrible and then come back and run fine.. I have found if I don't bring it over 4000 it never makes a sound.. My enging builder swears it is a bad lifter but I am not sure.. If the tapping noise stays for a while I will rev the enging in neutral to 5000 or better and the noise will go away. It is the stranges thing I have ever had to deal with.. Still looking for opinions.. Oil pressure is fine and as hard as I have reved it it would have knocked a rod out if it was bottom end..
