Default Mopar molded flaps...destroying truck!

About a week and half ago, I put a set of Mopar molded flaps on my 2011.

Checked them last night (cuz I know how molded flaps can be) and sure enough, one of them is rubbing on the outer edge and eating through the paint! Argh! Why would Mopar make a product where the edge of the flap rests right on the paint?!

Never again will I get molded flaps!

I am going to install some U-shaped door trim along the outer edge of the flap and hopefully that will correct the issue.

Anyone else having problems with molded flaps?!

Love my molded flaps, but since I was aware there could be an issue, I put prep adhesive tape on the body where the flap contacted the paint. So far no issues. Every dodge product I have owned that had molded flaps, all rested against the paint and none of them ever rubbed the paint off. Not sure why the Ram flaps are different.

I have the Husky brand molded flaps, they come with a specailly cut sheet of clear plastic film for paint protection, that is applied prior to the flaps.... Haven't really checked, but I don't think there is any issues with these...should be fine

Try putting some of this on before you install the flaps:http://www.cabelas.com/hood-shields-...n-film-3.shtml

Having seen this problem before, I went to the local Wally World and bought Duck brand HD clear tape. It seems to be doing the job on my truck!

The parts guy gave me 2 rolls of thick clear tape to put on first.

Sucks that your truck is damaged, molded flaps should come with the tape in my opinion.

You could put silicone on the edge of the flap and let it dry overnight; then install.

I've read about this before. Did you use any clear tape or clear acetate film when you installed them?
