Default Defeat the seat belt chime

Has anyone done this? Has to be the most annoying thing ever. On the road it's one thing...I wear the belt, but for short trips around the neighborhood or on back dirt roads I'd like to have the option of not having it on.

Eta...mods, feel free to move this to the Gen III electrical forum. Posted in the wrong place

1) Buckle your seat belt
2) Turn the key to the On position
3) After seatbelt light goes off, Unbuckle and Buckle 3 times ending in the Buckled position.
4) Turn the key off.
5) A chime will indicate success

I did mine, it is nice to do. The chime is annoying when you are only moving 25 mph and only going about 3/4 mile. You should wear seatbelt, but there are times when it is not nescessary.

you just have to do this once then, and it stays disabled?

if so Awesome!

I do wear the belt nearly all the time...just don't need an annoying charm to tell me to.

Yes it will remain disabled.

Also just to be clear, the truck is off when you begin the process.

I think that's just on 4th gens, but I might be wrong.

Not sure. The same worked on my buddy's 2008 Wrangler.

Also once you turn the key to the On position, you have to wait until the seatbelt light goes off to begin the unbuckling/buckling.

I just did it and went for a 5 minute ride... It worked! I didn't get a ding telling me I did it right though.
