Default Body work?

If you can see the damage to the passenger side of this truck, I need some advice. I have done a temporary repair to ward off rust. I sanded it down and put a somewhat matching touch up paint on it. There are two large dents. One in the bed and one in the door. I guess the easiest and most expensive thing would be to replace the door and bed. That's not gonna happen. I'd like to maybe try some more beginners body work and would like advice from some people that have done that sort of thing before.

Thanks!

Chris

I've had my hand in trying to do body work . I'll leave that for the pros . The bed to me looks like it's gonna need a bed side . The doors it's to hard to tell from the photo .

What's a bed side? Is that an alternative to replacing the whole bed?

Yes , but it's still a bit of work . You'll need to remove the bed , then replace just that bed side panel that's damaged .

Thanks. Other than a junk yard, do you have any recommendations on where to get parts like that. I did a quick search on the internet and found this guy http://www.jimsautoparts.com/mopar_p...&_exterior.htm

Ever heard of him?

Looks like you need a bedside and a front door. The backdoor is probably repairable. You can't do this type of repair at home. You need to take it to a shop.

Because people train for years to learn how to be a good bodyman. Its not something you can just pickup and do on a weekend. (properly)

Yeah body work is something better off left to the pro's. And yes you can get a passenger side bed skin also a passenger door skin as well. Its just replacement sheet metal so you dont have replace the entire bed or door. the dent look creased so you just cant pound them out. Save up and do it right. Also when I look for a body shop i look at the cars they have sitting in their lot, my body guy does normal cars but also does Vipers, Benz's, Porsche's alot of high end cars, thats why I take my car and truck to him.

You would be best off getting a new or used but good bedside and you can purchase a door skin, you don't have to buy a whole new door. If you feel comfortable enough or have some help you can replace the bedside at home. That will save you some cash but I would recommend letting a body shop do the door skin if you don't buy the whole door cause they can be tricky. Good Luck !
