Default EGR Trouble Code

My check engine light just came on so I read the code and it was a P0406. The code read P0406 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High. I was wondering what you think I should next because I'm pretty sure that this is over my head. And thanks to moparmike for posting all the codes. Any help is appreciated.

Had this last summer on my '05 Hemi.

The EGR was indeed bad. It is a simple changeout if you're handy with basic tools. At least it was on mine since it sits at the front of the engine on the passenger side.

It wasn't too expensive but I don't remember the exact dollars. Autozone had plenty when I went there.

The most difficult was getting the socket on a couple of the "hidden" screws since you need to move a few hoses aside.

If I remember correctly they are 10mm heads.

Hope this helps

Just came back from auto zone with the same problem on my 05 hemi, got a new egr valve for 39.99. if you feel a little uneasy doin it your self i would back repair manual, like a haynes becaused it out lines it very well and has everything you need basiclly for a tolal tear down and rebuild, great stuff to have if and when anything else comes up. also its worth it becuase dodge dealer ship priced to fix at aprox $125 so even with the manual (24.99) your getting out about 60 dollars cheaper and you still have the manual.

My 07 just had that same issue. Autozone for around $48. You will need a 10mm and an 8mm wrench. Took me around 10 minutes to do and now no Check Engine Light. Its been roughly a week and all is good...

Egr on my '07 went out at 27,000 miles. Since it was under warranty I let the dealer do it, but if it happens again I will be taking care of it myself. It's not hard to do.

Changing out the EGR is easy. I agree with the suggestion of getting a manual. I got a Dodge service manual for about
$10 on a CD in .pdf format off eBay.
