i have a dodge ram 1500 6 cylinder, can anybody here tell here is it possible to tow a cabover camper on this truck and if so what will i have to do to get it ready to do so ? truck came with no towing pack, except bumper hole for trailer ball, the cabover i intend to purchase will way anywhere between 1200 to 1800 lbs dry,or maybe i'm just better off buying a pull tent camper..let me know what you think...thanks
Hi Jerry, a big HELLO and a warm Carolina Welcome! I'd go with a pop-up and if you don't have a trans cooler I'd add one of those for added protection. Here's a invitation to drop by the Newbie Checkin and introduce yourself.
my trailor is registered at 1500 lbs empty and i have no problem towing it. I would suggest getting a trailor hitch mine cost around $200 installed at an accessory shop for a class IV. These trucks dont do so great pulling on the highway but ive pulled down some good sized mesquite trees with it. plenty of heft. What gear ratio do you have? 3.55:1 is crap I had a 4.10:1 put in and its waaaay better at pullin.
