I agree completely. The 18" is JUST within my tolerance of in cab driving noise. I'm very glad I didnt go with the 14". Has an awesome growl when you first start it.
BTW my local muffler shop just charges $50 bucks to weld on including the extension pipe-took him like 15mins. Welded is the way to go.

Keep in mind it WILL get substantially louder after a few months

My Magnaflow seemed just a little too tame at first, still way better than stock ,
but I could have used more ...and I'm nearly 50.

It got where I actually wanted the sound level after about 5-6 months and 3k-4k miles
and it seems to have leveled off just recently after about 9 months from new. Perfect!

I went with the more expensive Magnaflow CatBack kit (#16869) ($599)
it was a little more money, but I sold my new stock take off duals for $200 to offset the extra cost

The muffler is a stainless steel 5"x 22" SIDO, eliminated the resonators ,
and replaced the stock 3.5" bean tins with a gorgeous pair of 5" double walled polished stainless steel tips.

compared to stock sport tips...

If I had to guess I'd say my 22" with no reso's is about equal to the sound level of an 18" with the stock reso's in place.

I believe its the satin finish but not 100% sure to be honest. That was one thing I didnt specify when I ordered it. I just wanted to make sure the size was right.

what muffler do you have and how much did you pay for just the part? sounds like I paid a little higher then some but lower then others. I am not an ebay guy so I bought mine right from Magnaflow. I am just happy that atleast the install was done correct and i havent had any problems even if I paid a little to much.

The 5" tips are only available with the purchase of the Cat Back Kit (16869) made specifically for 4G Rams with the bumper cut-outs.

They are welded to the tailpipe section that eliminates the stock resonators.
