Default cold air intake

Hello I am thinking of installing a cold air intake on my 2007 Laramie. Just have a few questions. could some one tell me difference between the stage 1,2,3 and is it really worth it to buy a brand name one or is something off e-bay just as good . Thanks

I think the old adage - you get what you pay for. I invested in an eBay intake years ago for my '06 4.7 Ram. It sounded great and seemed to do the job. After a couple of code resets, vacuume leak, I pulled it off. It didn't have any support and had worn a hole in the filter. Off it came and I invested in a K&N. As far as the various stages, normally each stage gives an added level of performance and added cost.

Hope this helps.

I agree...you get what you pay for. I've seen cheap eBay CAI's come apart, with the filter getting sucked into the intake. Not good...

I don't know, intakes are pretty simple. I made one for my truck, piece of aluminum, filter and vacuum hose kit. All parts I had lying around. Been almost a year now and I've had no problems.

Same as. I was thinking of buying an afe cold air intake but didn't know the difference between stage I and stage 2 (apart from the cost), I guess the later stage two, is of improved performance, but is it worth the extra cost? Also is one louder than the other. I want a good sound but not to loud when on the motorway. I did e-mail afe directly to find out the facts but had no reply. Any comments greatly received.

Just installed the K&N 77 Series kit. Seems to be doing its job. I get better torque and the MPGs went up slightly.. And the truck can finally breath the way it should have done since day one..

Picked mine up off Ebay for around $250 shipped, but check the site sponsors, I'm sure they will have what you need..

I have Airaid CAI in my 04. I bought it because at the time it was the only CA. approved system. After I installed it there was a noticeable power inprovement and if I kept my foot out of it my MPG did go up a little.

After many months of deliberating and having phoned Scott at afe i decided to purchase the stage two dry filter cold air intake (not from afe directly in the end, there shipping was to much) can't wait till it turns up and i can fit it and feal and hear the difference.
