Default Let the modding begin....

I just purchased the following to dress up the front end of the RAM a bit. And as you guys/gals know...once you start modding, you'll NEVER stop.

Yup, going with the murdered (blacked out) look on the truck.

OEM grille and headlights will be in the for sale section soon.

Black on black is a great way to go. Are you going satin on the paint too?

I'm not going to mess with the paint until/unless I have to. This is NOT gonna be my show truck. It will be the tow beast for my show car. If you haven't gathered from my ebay purchases, I'm kinda cheap. haa The paint could use attention now...FULL of scratches, and on the passenger side rear fender, there used to be a dent and the previous owner banged it out from the inside, then put a rattle-can paint job over it. Looks absolutely retarded. But oh well.

There are some easy to use Rattle Can Satin finishes out there, a little wet sanding and a satin clear and you got a new truck. I too am living on the cheap side for now.

It looks like it's satin in the eBay shot, you can make it a gloss with a can of clear gloss DupliColor works, hit the grille with a 2500 grit wet sand then apply the clear.

The ad doesn't specify satin or not, but it sure looks like it, huh? If it's a lot less shiny than the existing paint on the truck, you think I should bring it to a body shop and have em spray a coat or 2 of clear on it?? I'm not trusting myself to paint anything on my truck. I'd be PISSED if it started to flake off within a year.

how exactly do you wet sand something? sand a lil, then spray with water, or have a constant trickle running as you sand? Sounds like I'm gonna be getting a clear coat price quote from the local body shop, then I'll drive home saying, damn all that...I'll do it myself. Then it's off to youtube for a tutorial in wet sanding. haa

It's all in the prep work, but check it against your truck before you install it and if you go the route of the body shop let then paint it off the truck.
