Default oil change

hey guys so a while back (around 4400kms) my trucks change oil message came on, so i went and got an oil change went with the supreme package, full synthetic oil and whatnot, now heres my question, im just a little over 10,000km now and no oil change message, oil still looks ok. so im wondering a couple things, first how come it came on well before 5000km and second, how come no message at or before 10k? is there some sensor or something that can tell when the oil needs to be changed and thus gives a longer duration for the full synthetic oil?

thanks in advance

It is determined by driving habits from what I've read here. The interval can fluctuate from change to change.

Yea I'm thinking of switching to the Amsol guy here. Going to check prices and will be doing my own oil through out the summer months.

Mobile One synthetic
Walmart carries it $23 for 5 quarts, you need 7 quarts
don't buy your oil filter there though, their oil filters are crap, take my word for it
purchase a Mobile One, Purolator, MOPAR, Amsoil, WIX, & a few others

if it starts with F & has 3 other letters behind it, run unless your about to make love, their filters suck

Love the K&N's. used them for years, including on race cars.

I just use the Mopar filter and save the receipt just in case there is any warranty issue in the future. I change mine every 3k since I have a 9 mile commute roundtrip.

They're pretty good filters. One of the best features outside of the outstanding filtration is the wrench knob on the end that allows you to grab ahold of it and get it off with an open end or box end wrech.... no more struggling with a strap wrench. (but then I do all of my own changing and never crank the filter on hard enough where it's difficult to get off)
