Default Push Button Start

Noticed that Grand Cherokee's are arriving with an optional push start button as a "throw in" item from the factory. Looks like a quick change for the dealers during vehicle prep.
QUESTION - can this also be used for the Ram - Hoping Randy chimes in with his knowledge..........would love to convert to a push button start in my sled.

I was just wondering this myself. I just realized that the one on my buddy's grand cherokee pulls right off, and since the key fob is the same on both, I am really hoping this works. Logically, it should only need programmed at the dealer, but you know how that goes. Hopefully someone can enlighten us.

A local guy here said he bought his from the dealer with push button start but he traded it for two cars when his wife's crapped out before I could see it. I'd love to do this if it's not too expensive...

it must be like a another FOB that just sticks in the hole, might not be to expensive, but i can see us getting raped if they have to change out the whole ignition or something.

I would love to have a push button start, and maybe they could even program the key fob to start the Ram and Challenger.

They can certainly do it as the 04-06 SRT-10 all have push button start...hence the nickname RBC (red button club)

I am sure it is a program on the computer or EVIC to be enabled. I own a 2011 Grand Cherokee Summit and it has the kyles entry and push startjust keep the FOB in your pocket and your set. It is nice and convenient. Wife like it too, sould not be that hard to do, will ask the guyson my Jeep forum and see what they say.

I asked if this could be done when I purchased my Ram last April, since my wife's Grand Cherokee has that option. The parts manager said it was not available for the Ram. I didn't push it any further.

If someone finds out different and it can be done (for a reasonable price), please let me know!
