Default Disabling MDS by using manually shift?

So I read on here on one of the threads about MDS,that if you use the manually shifter and place it into 5th gear and leave it will shift normally automatically threw all the gears and disable MDS. I havent tried this yet but was curious if anybody has been doing this and does it work. If so is there any problems this might cause by running your truck this way on a regular basis. I cant stand the MDS and on the fence about a tuner. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

This is the correct way to disable MDS from Dodge and RamTech. Don't use the Tow/Haul mode....that is the wrong way to do it! Lots of people use the 5th gear to avoid drone. Feel safe doing it....no harm, no foul!

Thx for the response And I will be doing this instead of getting a tuner and risking screwing something up or voiding my warranty. With my new exhaust I was really looking for a way to get rid of mds so I can fully enjoy the sound. This seems to be the best and simplest way to disable mds. Good bless this forum

i have used just fifth gear for several miles at a time
i usually just drive it & let the computer decide when to shift & let it decide to use MDS or not
at times when there is a slight incline & you are doing a certain speed, the computer decides to shift down, then up, then use MDS, then not. It makes for a jerky ride & gets irritating. I just just put it in 5th & usually takes care of it, but, other times i have had to just drive in 4th
There is a slight hill between Tuscon Arizona & the New Mexico State line that goes on it seems forever. My Ram goes crazy on that stretch of Interstate 10

I use 4 or 5 manual every day depending on my route. I tried a $300 tuner and returned it for a refund.

yep sounds like my future plans for a turner just went out the window. thx everybody for the confirmation and reconfirmation LOL. I just didnt want to mess up my tranny by using this method. I know a few guys have had some tranny issues(unrelated to this)when they got there trucks and I been lucky so far with mine.

I do this every time I go to the VA for my medical appointments.
About a 200 mile round trip each time and surprisingly get better mileage than if I leave it with MDS on.
