Default trans burnt fluid problem

i have a 1987 ram le250 5.9l . when at stop sometimes my truck would seem out of gear id put foot on gas and it felt as if my trans was spooling up and then would slam and then would go . i changed fluid and filter . fluid was black . then the new fluid was fine and trans was without that spooling problem but within 5000 miles trans fluid is black again and trans starting to have that same spooling prob feels like its in neutral then slams into drive by itself thx in advance

I would expect the fluid to be black again because you left the majority of it in the trans when you serviced it. The only way to get it all is by flushing it through the cooler lines. Did you do a band adjustment while you were in there?

Say what? Off the ground to do a band adjustment, huh? That's a new one to me and I have to say that diminishes what little faith I had in Haynes.
