Default lacking n power not sure why

some of you might kno from my posts but so far my truck has had a full tuneup(plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor) and also number 1 02 sensor. iac sensor and tps had been changed. i also have a spectre cai and a flowmaster 70 series muffler. with only 105,000 miles on her she just doesnt feel like its got the power it should. especially low end and at highway speeds. when i put the pedal to the floor off a deadstop it feels pretty slggish and i lose speed on small inclines at highway speed too. anyone have any ideas for me? just feel like there should be more power there.

what's your gears? i'm running 3.55s and my 4.7 QC had more balls than this, but that's because it had 3.92s.

just a thought...

just had a thought... did you do a compression check. not that it should need one, but i did one on a 440 i had in a 76 Powerwagon, cause it was kinda sluggish. sure enough, had 2 cylinders that were below spec and the rest were getting close.

well as for gears i have no clue. my truck is a 2500 and ha tow and plow package and also my truck is 8800 gvw so rated as a 1 ton. so not sure what it has. and no i havent had a compression check done. might look into it when i have more money. only a 105,000 or so tho its hard to believe the motor or something could be that bad.

From what you listed you probably have 3.92s. I have the 3.92s and love it, my wife's durango has 3.55s and shifts out of overdrive whenever there is a slight grade on the highway. but to be sure there should be a sticker inside the glove box that tells you. Also make sure the trans has a clean filter and proper fluid level and the bands are properly tightened.

I just bought my truck and believe me I understand what your talking about. My 97 feels a little sluggish as well and mine is only a 1500. But to be fair I do have a blown head gasket. So maybe after I fix that, refill the oil and coolant. Replace the plugs, cap, rotor, and air filter then maybe, just maybe I might be able to get some more power out of this truck.

Yep, upgrade your gears. Even though my truck weighs 6400 lbs as a reg. cab 1500, it still will get up and move with the 4.10s. When I used to live in WA., I had to drive up a quarter mile fairly steep hill to get to my neighborhood and its the only vehicle out of the three that I own that never downshifted!

I would install a new adjustable timing set so you can advance the cam 4 degrees or 1/2 of a cam sprocket tooth. Your cam chain is probably worn and sloppy which retards intake timing and causes the doggy performance you're talking about. 4 degrees advance renders instant off idle torque.
