Default Put it to rest!

You know what? Those who say they would'nt want it any louder and leave the resonator on are stuck with so-so sounding mufflexes. Go ahead and leave the resonator on. But if you really want to hear that magnaflow take it off! I drove around with my new 18" mufflex for just a week, took it off, and then heads starting at the real sound of that hemi. Drone is no issue, MDS? Actually kinda neat easing along with that "whoosh" or what ever you wanna call it, then hitting the gas to make a light and watch people jump. LOL... Bunch of people waiting at a bus stop yesterday did just that. If you don't want to take the resonator off save your money. Buy dice for your dashboard or something. Oh! I also installed the AIRAID CAI. What a difference! Bottom line.... Resonators "SUCK"! So now lets put this to rest... -->> resonators

Damn, I thought this was going to be about all the "Why does my 400 hp 5K lb truck not get 32 mpg, up hill?" threads.

But I do agree with your resonator statements.

Is there any performance gain, I havent done much research to see how restrictive the resonators are. I am not a fan of making noise just to be loud, dont get me wrong I love the sound of a strong motor with a good exhaust and I like the the sound of my Hemi w/CAI and 14" mufflex and my 71 with true duals , long tubes and supper 44s but those all come with gains. There are plenty of loud cars and trucks around town that couldnt punch their way out of a wet paper bag , all bark no bite. My point is that Im out on making noise just to make noise , if there is some gains I would definatly look into it.

The resonators I've pulled off were pretty much empty chambers with some baffles in them, like the ones I pulled off my SRT.

I was surprised, however, when I cut apart the resonator I took off the Ram...it had some form of fibrous fill in it and in looking at it, I concluded it was pretty restrictive.

Warlord: If at all possable I would like to here a before and after sound clip. I know that sound clips arent always the best but it would give me some idea how mine would sound if i decided to go this route.

Default Resonators

You want noise, take off the resonator(s)

You want increased performance, take em' off

You want like me to have a nice quiet cab and listen to my sound system, leave them on.

My Ram came with no res that I can find, and actually I like the stock sound.

If I wanted to race, or get a noise ticket, I could trick up the exhaust also.

It's called personal preferences or an opinion. We all have them and that's why we read and post here.

Neither way is wrong

Too old to argue more lol
