Subject: Mid Month Military Pay Notices

ALCON,

BLUF: DFAS has postured to address a potential government shutdown and
released mid-month pay statements that reflect payment of 1-8 April as
authorized by the current resolution.

Be advised, active duty 15 April Net Pay statements are posted on myPay and
reflect a payment of earned wages from 1-8 April. This amount is what can
be legally paid as DoD is funded up to 8 April 2011. DFAS is positioned to
pay 9-15 April once a budget or resolution is enacted. The minute funding
is approved, all unpaid accrued pay will be deposited. It's important to
note that this is only posturing. We could have a bill signed today/tonight
and all funds will flow at mid month but likely in two deposits. Below is a
portion of an Air Force press release on the portal that talks about this
issue.

Potential Government Shutdown

If the government has to shut down due to a lack of funding, the DOD will
have no funds to pay military members or civilian employees for the time the
government is shut down. However, both military and civilian personnel will
receive pay for the period worked prior to the shutdown.

"In general, if the government shuts down -- for however long it shuts down
-- there are no funds appropriated to pay government employees," said Doug
Wilson, the assistant secretary of defense for public affairs. "If you are
required to work -- as all men and women in uniform are required to work --
then there is a legal obligation to ultimately pay those men and women. When
that would happen would be timed to the restoration of appropriated funds."

Once funds restart, military personnel and all civilians occupying excepted
status positions are entitled to be paid for the work performed during the
shutdown, "and they will be paid retroactively," Colonel Lapan said.

DOD personnel who do not work during the shutdown will not get paid, he
said. "However, in past instances Congress has appropriated funds to pay
those civilians," Colonel Lapan said.

this is on our housing office page

We’ve had a bit of an update from MAC in regards to DFAS & Service Member mid-month pay.

As we discussed before we have been told by DFAS that the allotments will continue regardless of pay, so we should receive the allotments as normal at month end. They anticipate everything to be straightened out in the next few days so the allotments at EOM should not be affected.

The members will get paid electronically for the 1st to the 8th and will be cut a check for the 9th to 15th once the shutdown is over (again, they anticipate that will be in the next couple days). We have been assured by DFAS that the member will not suffer any undue hardship due to the full 1/2 allotment coming out of his/her mid-month pay – this is a little different than what we thought earlier as we were under the impression that their pay might be shorted because of the allotment deduction.

This is a travesty. What if our Armed Forces decides to serve only 1/2 day, every day, until they go back to full pay?

This makes me sick.

Hang in there, brothers and sisters. The politicos, idiots and REMF's in Washington should be put on 1/2 pay, not you!

Check with your banks/credit unions many of them are going to give their members no interest loans on payday for their full pay amount. They will then take their money back once the government issues the back pay. I know Navy Fed, Pacific Marine, and Marine Fed are all doing this. USAA has not said they will do this yet, however they are willing to help in other areas.

(Things I posted on my FaceBook) Military members are pissed. Our pay was linked to a bill that includes abortion. REALLY?! How the hell is the security of our nation linked to abortion? It appears for now that the shutdown was averted for one week. Just some thoughts:

Tell you what Congress, YOU don't get paid or leave for home this weekend until YOU, the ones that work FOR THE PEOPLE, fix this financial mess YOUR spending got us into! How dare you decide that the ones who pay you shouldn't get paid AND STILL DEFEND YOUR SORRY ASSES!

Dear Mr President, Lawmakers, Congressional Leaders....We the Military QUIT. Have a nice day.
