Default Intake Removal

Removed every bolt but the middle one closest to the firewall. How do I remove this? I removed the distributor cap, but can't seem to get my hand underneath the cowl far enough to get a socket on the bolt. What is the easiest way?

You shouldn't have to remove the distributor . Leave it in place .

I did not remove it, I just removed the cap. Like my instructions said to. I just can't get the last bolt closest to the firewall right next to the distributor. Any suggestions? Tips?

have you tried a
Reversible Ratcheting Combination Wrench

just like open end & box end wrench, but, the box end part ratchets

All I have are sockets and rachets. I can't fit my hand down there.

I managed to get the intake off. It took a while for me to finally get this done. I also pulled one head off to replace the gasket. This took all weekend. I now have to clean the head and the block. Any tricks for cleaning out the valley? I can't wait for this job to be done. I also hate that I move at a snails pace. This is going to take forever.

when i have cleaned out the valley, i use several shop towels, i lay a couple in the bottom of the pan, then i scrape off the gasket material & it is caught by the towels, clean as much as possible up before removing those towels on the bottom
then i shake out the towels & reuse them if they are fairly clean, to soak up any oil & cleaner liquid that may be in the valley, i get it as clean as i can, then i break out the shop vacuum to get what debris i missed. A 60 gallon air compressor helps too

I appreciate the insight. I was thinking about just shop towels but your idea seems to be more effective. This truck is slowly killing me inside haha. I just want to get these headgaskets done and the wiring harness re attached and get on with my life. I am also having issues with the exhaust manifolds. I cant get the bots off the exhaust pipe to pull the manifold completely. I cut 1 bolt (I have replacements) but I cant get my dremel in that tight space to cut the other from the top or bottom. Any ideas on that topic? I am running up short lately on brain fuction haha

shoot all your bolts & nuts with a product that you can get at most any gun shop
it is called KROIL
it is so much better for breaking exhaust bolts loose than any other product made, that Liquid Wrench, WD-40, etc. are not even in the same class
