Default Plastic bed liner

Have been wanting to remove the plastic bed liner from my truck for some time now, i'm wondering if i should save it, or junk it ? Or is there a market of people wanting these used ?

My biggest concern is i can see bare metal around the edges of the liner. what can i use to seal that so it deosnt rust ? I do plan on getting a spray in bed liner or a do it your self one but thats some time out cause i want to get a roll bar put in first. any tips or suggestions ?

I took my bed liner out and the bed was sort of rubbed raw. I put in a do it yourself Herculiner kit and bought the red color to match the truck but after putting it in I noticed it was almost like as if the color was actually color matched to my truck. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I set a small cardboard box in there yesterday by the tailgate and when I got home it was still in the same spot, it never slid around in the bed. Great stuff. When I took out my old plastic liner I had it sitting by where my trash cans are stored during the week and someone came into the yard and took it so I didn't have to drag it to the road on trash day - LOL. I looked on Craigs List because I was going to maybe get a few bucks for it since it was like new and there were a lot of bed liners already listed for anywhere from $50 to $100. Good luck to you. The Do It Yourself Herculiner in Red was only about $100 and Black runs around $50. The spray in liners like Rhino and LineX around here are over $500 with all the extras like UV protetction and color matching, so I figured I got a great deal and have some left that I can use for touch up.

The DIY sounds like a plan. My bedliner holds water and I hate that. The driveway is downhill and when it rains it fills the bed of the truck.

My question is... Will the DIY bedliner mentioned above do the same?

I put one of these in mine: http://www.dualliner.com/index.php?c...FQbe4AodjUhTCw.
I put the plastic liner along the road with a free sign on it and nobody took it. It was so slippery you couldn't haul anything without it sliding.
The thing I like about the dualliner is that the rubber bottom mat can be pulled out and washed outside the truck. I have a handyman business and do some masonry [stone] work. It gets quite dirty at times and can easily be cleaned.

whenever i can afford to do it, i'm ripping and junking my plastic liner and i'm putting in one of these...

can't wait cause i've got a LOT of honey-do's down the road, and i'd rather not use the boss's ride to haul gravel, brick, etc..

plus, like others have said, the plastic liners let everything slide around. i HATE that.

I sold my plastic bedliner for $50 on craigslist. I put the $50 bucks towards a DIY roll in/spray bedliner and it was a great choice. I used the plasti-cote kit and did it "over the rails" (to cover the scuffs the drop in bedliner made). Its been 2 years and it still looks good and hasnt faded, cracked, etc.

I sold mine on craigslist. Mine was scuffed but no scratches through to the primer or metal.

If you have bare metal showing, just get some spray primer to seal it up. If you have some rust there, use a rust sealing primer. You don't want it to spread.

@ UltraFlame: the Herculiner kit seems to be the best i've looked at in the DIY department. Did you buy the kit or just the gallon of bed liner ?

@ BigDave52952: Thats actually pretty cool but it looks like water could get under it.

@ sdram03: Id go with the herculiner. I took a trip to a local parts store and looked at the dupli-color bed armor, they only give you 1/4 gallon can with the kit and I only found 1/4 gallon cans sold as extra's for $35.00. calls for 2-3 coats if I remember correctly. Kinda gave me the impression of a rip off, be cheaper to get it Rhino linned lol

Thanks everyone for the idea's defanitly diggin the Herculiner the most now.
Think i'll just save the plastic bed liner for a sled lol =P

They all look good at first, I've got a DualLiner now and I'd recommend that to anyone.
