Hi All,

The mopar tubular side steps that I had installed in '09 when I bought the truck are getting pitted and rust is starting to form. How can I handle this?

Did the dealer do it? I'd go show whomever sold them to you the problem. That is wayyyy too early for such nonsense.

I agree with everyone, You should have the dealer look at them, if that doesn't get any where a little elboe grease goes a long way.

My rails have some corrosion pits as well. While I recognize that winter driving is hard on vehicle exteriors this type of issue should not show up on a truck this new. I am anal about keeping my vehicles clean and so this truck never sat around for weeks with dirt and salt deposits on it either. You can wax or steel wool (0000 grade) rust spots when they are just getting started but you can catch your fingernail on these pits so they have penetrated the chrome to a certain degree. I worry about what it will look like 3-5 winters from now. I called my service manager and he said they have had issues with rust spots on bumpers but not the steps. He said to bring in my truck, which I will do when it needs servicing, and he was sure Dodge will replace my rails upon his inspection. He knows my cars are well taken care of so that was not an issue.
