Default bilstein shocks

hey guys i was wondering if you can use a coil spacer leveling kit and bilstein shocks for a total 3 or so inches of lift in the front end of a truck? if im not mistaken bilstein stocks are the adjustable ride height ones.

Thanks

I believe you can, I think ScatPak07 did a 6" suspension lift and used Bilsteins also if not mistaken ? Although I am not certain if it is good to go more than 2.5" in the front without getting new A-Arms and such because of the change in geometry at that height. Maybe he will chime in here as he will most certainly see this thread !

i really hope so... i want just an extra inch to two inches in the front so i can put 1.5 inch or 2 inch blocks in the back and it will still sit level

Only the 5100 series bilsteins are adjustable to my knowledge. And I wouldn't recommend both. That would put a LOT of strain on your ball joints and your front axles. The 'steins adjust up to 2.8" for the 3rd gens I believe, so your almost there if you adjust to the highest setting. If you go too much higher your also risking vibration and wobble as well. How about 5100's and then a body lift?

I remember seeing scat mention a lift you could use with bilstiens (6" lift plus 2.8" bilstiens i think it was although I cant remember the name) to get more height but I dont believe you can use spacers with bilstien adjustables

You might be able to use a lift with them because a lift will correct your CV shaft angles, but adding a spacer with the 'steins will just increase the angle.

okay thanks guys, i might just stick to the 2 inch leveling kit for the time being since i do not know how long i will have the truck for. Just thought id see if i could get a little more height for cheap. Thinking about getting rid of the hemi for a cummins, but thanks!

If you have a 2" leveling kit now and you want to add the Bilstein 5100's? So your wanting to add 1 -2" more lift in the front without a lift kit? Ya your asking for trouble bro if you do this.Your cv's would be too far at an angle and your balljoints would have way too much stain on them as stated above. If you want to go higher go with a body lift or do a suspension lift.

I have a 6" BDS kit with the Bilsteins on the front set at 2.8". It works like this. Not with just a leveling kit. You can take the spacers out and buy the 5100's and set them to max settings but you still might get some vibration.

Ya you dont want to go higher then a leveling kit without a lift kit. The lift kits will do it properly and if you cheap out then your going to cost yourself more in repairs. The lift kits come with a subframe which lowers the front diff which will correct all of the geometry in the front end of the truck. This will give you a safe and sturdy ride. If you have a lift kit then you can use the 5100s because the lift kit brings everything to stock. So this would be like adding a leveling kit all over again to the truck.
