Thats right. Its called an ashtray light because the light shines down on the center console, right about where you would put an astray if you had one.

In reference to the Hood and Glove Box Lamps...here's what I learned:

I first got my Build Sheet and confirmed it came with the "ADAS Light Group" which is a "luxury group" considered by Chrysler. Then I got it in writing what is included with THAT group: Underhood Lamp, Glove Box Lamp was included, but mine did not have them....

Then I had to deal with my SELLING dealership (2 hrs away, and not my local dealer)...they are duchebags and refused to help me. My Local dealer was easy to deal with SO LONG AS they got re-imbursed by chrysler for the parts (which I can understand)... Finally Chrysler Customer Rep said they'd contact my local dealer and get things fixed up! It took about a month or 2 but i finally have what the factory should have put in the truck in a matter of seconds to begin with (according to the build sheet)

GET IT IN WRITING 1ST THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE IT (BEFORE MENTIONING YOU DONT HAVE THEM), THAT WAY THEY HAVE NO WAY OUT OF PUTTING THEM IN!

Is the under hood light pigtail long enough to route to where it needs to go? Looking at a picture on eBay it looks like it's only about 10" long.

Also, anyone have the part number(s) for the glove box light and any needed pigtail?

I called Chrysler Canada today to find out whether I should have the hood-lamp and glove-box lamps. They couldn't give me an answer!
On my build sheet I simply have "Light Group". I don't have the "Luxury Group" showing anywhere on my build sheet. Yet according to the 2011 Dodge brochure I should have, as standard equipment, both the hood-lamp and glove-box lamp. They told me to talk to my purchasing dealership. WTF?!
I have a call into the Sales Manager at the dealership to see if he can shed some light on this situation. My truck is going in to have some fender repair work done so I may ask them then and there.
I've read replies from several people where some guys have the lamps and others do not.
I'm not too concerned if I don't get the parts installed thru the dealership. I can't miss what I don't have. That's not the point. The point is if it is supposed to be installed then I want the parts installed.

I love my truck. It has just over 3500 KM on it. Gas mileage keeps improving and right now I am getting around 14-15 litres per 100km in the city (avg). I got down as low as 12.2 litres per 100 on the highway, and that was with a lot of hill climbing in B.C.
My brother also has a new 2011 1500 SLT C/C and he said he got down to just over 9 litres per 100 km on the highway (straight road, no hills, etc.)

Update:

My selling dealership called the other day to inform me they are not going to do anything about the missing bulbs. They said if it isn't on my build sheet then it is not included.
Why is it some guys here are getting (or have) the lights installed while others do not/cannot?
Chrysler Canada informed me the lights are part of the Luxury Group, and are standard on Sport models. WTF

I'm not done with this. One way or another I will get these lights installed at no cost to me.

Anyone else in Canada either have the lamps installed from factory or are missing them??

I was told (by the sales manager) not to believe what is posted at the above website. Really? It's a Dodge site!
It clearly notes the lamps are part of the luxury group, and are standard on the Sport.

Hi all, new member here.... I'll post pics later, but:

I just ordered and received one of these hood lamps for my '11 sport today. Is it supposed to rattle, or did I get a broken one? I guess I could connect it and see if it works.

I seem to remember that the pic looked funny when I looked up the part but it is indeed long enough, that's a really far out shot you're probably seeing. It has 3 or 4 of those christmas tree push pins on it and they're like an inch long, use that to scale the pic.

As for the glovebox light, it's just the part, the wiring is behind the plug in your upper glovebox if you have the right harness in your option level, pop it out and see. IIRC it may actually be plugged in to the blank. I'll see if I can get the PN later, I think I still have my invoice from the parts dept in my center console.

On the rattle, yes it does rattle. That's the ball switch (I think) switching. If you plug it all in you'll see it flicker off and on when you shake it.

Glovebox PN is 4565022. If you search that at google you get the description for a Challenger switch I think, which looks like it's the same part. It's an all-in-one push switch and lamp unit. At least we get a nice blank in the hole, it sounds like the challenger folks have to drill the hole themselves.

For reference, the pigtail is 68018176AB on my invoice.
