Not sure if this is where this post goes, if not could someone direct me.
Ok. I have a problem, it might be three diff problems, but I'm hopin' it is just one.
I bought this truck, a 1998 ram 2500, 5.9 Magnum gas engine about 4 months ago, when I bought it the guy said that the check engine light and abs light had come on periodically ever since he bought it, but he couldn't figure out why, nor could the dealership & that he just had it serviced @.
I have a pic of this too.
The dealership charged him $200 (I have the receipt) On the receipt, it is noted that: after installing the sensor, a new ABS FA ULT code was tripped. Cust to return. I'll take a pic.
Then I did this http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=65683
Then my AC/motor died & snapped the belt, I bought a used belt from an auto wrecker & they threw in the ac/motor & all the hoses one, but the hoses didn't line up so I put it in but didn't hook up the hoses or power.
as outlined here. http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=67221
Every thing seemed to work all right.
My mom just passed away, the bank is trying to foreclose & my power's cut off. So I've been sitting in my truck using my mom's laptop, but lately it has drained the battery a couple times, to the point I needed a jump.
Not sure if the power thing is a contributor or not?
Now the latest problem, my battery died with me sitting in it, I couldn't start it so I left it on the side of the road. Came back the next day to jump it.
It started after a couple times but wouldn't stay running without my foot constantly on the gas, & it was making what sounded to me like a suction noise, like a hose came off. Checked, all good.
Tried to get it home but I pretty much had to do a neutral drop from a stopped position, just so it wouldn't die. No luck it died.
How it died was kinda weird too. It didn't bog out or sputter, it would just stop. Like instantly my foot wasn't on the gas. I thought it was seconds away from seizing. I don't really know that much about engines.
after checking again I noticed that my serpentine was so tight it felt solid, no play what so ever.
So I pushed the tensioner back a bit & it almost stayed there, so I wiggled it back & forth a few times & voila, I had fixed it.
But my neighbor says there is no way in the world that the belt being to tense would slow down my 360ci (5.9L), he thinks there has to be some thing else wrong with it & that the belt being to tight was just helping it die.
Any one had anything similar happen to them, or have any idea what is happening to mine.
Sorry for the long winded post, just wasn't sure if any of these things were related so I figured the more details the better.
I will post the pics as soon as I get home.
