Default leaking oil from front axle

i have a 2003 ram 1500 4x4 and leaking gear oil where the cv shaft slips into the front axle. is this hard to fix? everywhere says it is a dealer part. what is involved in fixing this problem?

Its as simple (or not) as pulling the CV shaft, and changing the input seal on the Differential. Its not a hard job, if you know what you are doing. Napa should carry the part, otherwise the dealer would be the only place, but a seal should only be about $20 max. It is a steel encased rubber seal with a spring compressor in it, so you will have to pry the old one out and beat the new one in with a rubber mallet.

Its not a hard fix. pull the cv axle, then pull the seal. I just replaced both cv axles and both seals they are like 10 bucks at Oriellys. Hopefully the guy at the counter is smarter and more mechanically inclined than the one I ran into.
